Just replying a random guy called "a" in my shoutbox
It is true that Uwa offers mining engineering but it doesnt require you to go up north to study and work in the mines for the 3rd and 4th year of your course which is a magor disadvantage as you lose out in experience and pay.Secondly,if u do come to perth and did a simple survey, you would realise that many major mning companies prefer graduates from curtin because of their expereince. At the same time i'm not saying uwa is a terrible uni.In fact its one of the many well known universities in WA.The fact is UWA are known for their medicine, law and commerce courses and their ridiculous tee scores to enter this courses. If u would to graduate with any of this degree in UWA, finding a job and a secure carreer shouldnt be much of a problem.Curtin however is a technology university and isnt as well known as UWA.But the fact is they are very well known for courses such as enginnering, architecture, surveying and other practical courses that requires students to work on-site.Originally i wanted to do civil and construction engineering in uwa,but due to low tee score i couldnt enter the uni. From this point i did my own research to find out for myself what course have a secure career with big bucks to make so i can support my siblings in the futuere. As far as my research when, there's a major boom in the mining industry here in Australia due to thier contract woth China for raw materials.Furthurmore,J.Howard(president of australia) is deciding on the use of nuclear energy..and Australia is basically filled with uranium. To sum it all up...it really depends what course you wanna take before choosing the uni u wanna apply for.I'm also not insulting IMU, if that was what u misunderstood of me in the first place. It's a very famous uni in m'sia.I've friends studying there as well, and from thier feedbacks its tough studying in it as well, and it would be great news if my sis could get in.Secondly i'm asking my sis to count her blessings that my mum din ask so much from her, when i was in college my mum was dead on in wanting me to get in UWA even when i explained to her that it wouldnt help me in the future. When i didnt get in UWA i had a big argument with my mum for weeks. My sis can confirm that for you.Anyways enough bout the past,if really u think i'm sum proud snobbish little brat that is looking down on IMU or my sis,let me reassure you i'm not.Never in my post did i ever mention that any uni sucked. All i commented about was the scores required to enter the uni. Each Uni has its ups and down. You will never find a uni that is perfect inside out.I also love my sis,if my family was financially well off, i would have wanted her here in Australia rather than in KL,mainly because i wan her to see and experience different things and the widen her horizon.Same goes to my younger brother.Whether or not they wanna stay back in Aus or go back to M'sia its their choice. But i want them to see how different peopl do things differently and how they can apply what they see in their life as well.Naturally we want what is best for the people we hold close to our hearts.
